LYNDA L. BIEHL, 60

Lynda L. Biehl, 60, of Lexington, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, Feb. 9, at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington.

Lynda Lou Otto was born Jan. 18, 1950, in Manhattan, Kan., to Dr. Lou and Marilyn (Larson) Otto. Her father moved the family to Arlington soon thereafter to begin his career in veterinary medicine.

She grew up in Arlington, where she attended high school and participated in a multitude of activities, including Girl’s State, sports, aquatics, and music. She graduated from Arlington High School in 1968, and attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. While at UNL, she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority, and majored in physical education with a minor in music. She graduated from UNL in 1972.

While at UNL, she met her husband, Dennis. The couple married July 16, 1972, in Fremont, and moved to Lexington following their wedding.

In Lexington, she touched many lives as an educator in P.E. and reading for 25 years. She was a member of Chapter AN P.E.O., First Presbyterian Church, and various professional organizations. She shared her musical talents with the community teaching piano lessons, accompanying musicians and playing the piano and organ.

She was an avid bridge player, a terrific cook, passionate shopper, a wonderful wife and loving mother.

She also attained her master’s in science education, reading specialist from the University of Nebraska in Kearney in 2002. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and attending her children’s activities, and, most recently, enjoyed doting upon her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Dennis Biehl of Lexington; children, Courtney Biehl of Clearwater, Fla.; Stephanie and Nate Jasa of Denver, Colo.; and Andrew Biehl of Lincoln; two grandsons; her mother, Marilyn Otto of Arlington; sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Dennis Warner of Arlington; brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Melinda Otto of Lincoln; aunt and uncle, Ginger and Larry Kjohlhede of Michigan; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Lou Otto and aunt, Janet Robinson.

Memorials are suggested to the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department, the Lexington Community Foundation or the National MS Society.

Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington was in charge of arrangements.
