Mrs. Bertha Douglas Dies In Tucson, Ariz.

Mrs. Bertha Douglas, 88, a one-time Blair and DeSoto resident, died Friday at Tucson, Ariz.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Campbell Funeral Home at 2 p.. with the Rev. Stephen Matheny officiating. Burial was in Blair Cemetery.

Bertha Bouvier was born in Blair and lived here until she was nine years old, at which time she moved to DeSoto to live with an aunt, Mrs. Adeline McPherson, upon the death of her mother.

After graduating from Blair High School, she moved with relatives to Colorado, where she was married to Herman Fanke. To this union was born one son, Ivan, now of Tucson. For the past 12 years, after the death of the second husband, Mrs. Douglas has lived with her son in Tucson.

Other survivors besides her son include three sisters, Mrs. J. E. Hovendick and Mrs. Walter Stricklett of Blair, ad Mrs. Myrtle Kirk of Kelseyville, Calif.; two brothers, Ralph Bouvier of Florence and Fred Bouvier of Oakland, Calif.; one granddaughter and one great-grandson.

Mrs. Bertha Douglas Died April 21st

Mrs. Bertha Douglas, born Bertha Bouvier, the daughter of Sam and Lou Iden Bouvier, entered upon her earthly life in Washington County, Nebraska, and within what is now the city limits of Blair, on December 13, 1878, and departed from this life, at Tucson, Ariz. On April 21, 1950, being at the time of her passing seventy-one years, seven months and eight days of age.

At the age of nine months, due to the early death of her mother, she took up her residence with an aunt, Mrs. Adeline McPherson, of DeSoto, Nebraska, and with this aunt she made her home until she reached the age of adulthood. After graduating from the Blair High School, she removed with her relatives to Denver, Colo. And at the age of twenty-two years she was united in marriage to Herman Franke, to which union was born one son, Ivan Franke, now of Tucson, Arizona. After her marriage she lived first at Denver, and then at Ft. Moran, Colo., and still later at Los Angeles, Calif. After the passing of her second husband, Mr. Douglas, she made her home permanently with her son, Ivan, for the last twelve years of her life residing in Tucson, Ariz.

She leaves in mourning her son Ivan Franke of Tucson Arizona; three sisters, Mrs. J. E. Hovendick of Blair, Nebr., Mrs. Walter Stricklett of Blair, Nebr., and Mrs. Myrtle Kirk of Kelseyville, Calif.; two brothers, Ralph Bouvier of Florence, Nebr., and Fred Bouvier of Oakland, Calif.; a granddaughter, Mrs. Warren Steele of Randolph, Ariz.; and one great-grandson, Scottie Steele also of Randolph, Ariz., as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

The funeral was held at the Campbell Funeral Home, Blair.

Bertha Douglas Dies April 21st

Mrs. Bertha Douglas born in Blair in 1878 passed away at the home of her son in Tucson, Arizona, April 21st.

Mrs. Douglas lived with an aunt, Mrs. Adeline McPherson of DeSoto, and was later graduated from the Blair High School. She moved with her relatives to Denver, and was married thee in 1900 to Herman Franke, to which union was born one son, Ivan Franke now of Tucson.

Following her marriage she lived in Colorado, and later in Los Angeles. After the passing of the second husband, Mr. Douglas she made her home permanently with her son.

She leaves to mourn her son, three sisters, Mrs. J. E. Hovendick of Blair, Mrs. Walter Stricklett and Mrs. Myrtle Kirk of Kelseyville, Cal.; two brothers, Ralph Bouvier of Florence, Nebr.; Fred Bouvier of Oakland, Cal., and a granddaughter, Mrs. Warren Steele, of Randolph, Ariz.

The funeral was held at the Campbell Funeral Home, April 25th at 2 p.m. Reverend Stephen Matheny, of the Congregational Church, officiated and interment was made in the Blair Cemetery. Other services were held previously at Tucson.
