Again we are called upon to chronicle the death of another old settler, Andrew Knudsen, who died early Monday morning. Mr. Knudsen was born in Denmark January 31, 1848, and when a young man emigrated to America and worked on the Union Pacific as fireman on the Ogden branch. Later he took up a homestead in Richland township and lived there until a few years ago when he moved to Kennard. He leaves a wife and two sons to mourn his death. The burial will be at the *Fairview cemetery on Wednesday at 2 o’clock, Rev. Hiller officiating. We extend our sympathy to the relatives and friends in their sad hour of bereavement.

Obituary

Mr. Andrew Knudsen, who has been a resident of Kennard since 1905 and who for several months past has been an invalid suffering from a paralytic stroke, passed away last Monday, Aug. 28, summoned by the members of his family.

Mr. Knudsen was born Jan. 31, 1846 in Lorring, Denmark, from which country he came to America in June 1871 and moved to a farm south of Kennard in March 1874 where thirty one years were spent in farm life. His wife and two sons survive, their daughter Christina having died June 1, 1908.

The funeral was held on Wednesday from the home, Rev. Dr. Hiller officiating. Interment was at the *Danish Cemetery.

The people of Kennard and vicinity were greatly shocked to hear of the death of Andrew Knudsen, who died at 3 o’clock this morning. Mr. Knudsen was born in Denmark Jan. 31, 1848, and came to America when a young man and worked on the U.P. railroad for several years. When he quit railroading he came to Washington county and took a homestead, on which he lived until a few years ago, when he moved to Kennard, where he lived until his death. Mr. Knudsen was respected by all who knew him. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Rev. Hiller officiating, and interment made in the *Fairview cemetery. BLITZ

Washington County, NE burial records list him as buried in the Prairie View Cemetery, which is southwest of Kennard, NE. It lists the death date as Aug. 28.
