Elmer L. Knudsen, 89

Former Washington County resident Elmer L. Knudsen, 89, of St. Cloud Minn., died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at the St. Cloud Hospital of pancreatic cancer.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Salem Luther Church in St. Cloud. Interment will be in the Benton County Cemetery in Sauk Rapids, Minn.

Elmer L. Knudsen was born April 21, 1914, to Louis and Mary (Rasmussen) Knudsen.

He married Edna Wulf on June, 15, 1935, in Red Oak, Iowa.

Mr. Knudsen was a carpenter in eastern Nebraska for more than 25 years. He moved to Minnesota in 1961 and continued carpentry for another eight years. He then had a saw sharpening business until he retired in 1971.

He loved baseball and knew all the Minnesota Twins by their names and what positions they played.

He is survived by his wife, Edna; four children and their spouses, Carol Pritzel of Cleveland, Ohio, Rolland and Elsie Knudsen of Clearwater, Minn., Dennis and Bernie Knudsen of Phoenix, Ariz., and Susan and Bob Fleege of Foley, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother and his brother, Earl.
