Funeral services for Elsie Knudsen, 98, of Blair, were held Monday, June 19, 2000 at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Interment was at the Herman Cemetery. Knudsen died at her home on June 15, 2000.

Elsie Knudsen was born on Dec. 4, 1901, to Rasmus and Petrina (Jensen) Rasmussen in Spiker.

She married Emil Knudsen on Sept. 19, 1919 in Blair. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1990, after 70 years of marriage.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Donald “Bud” and Dorothy Knudsen of Omaha, Jerry and Roberta Knudsen of Lakeport, Calif., Vernon “Babe” and Margie of Onalaska, Texas; a son, Earl Knudsen of Pueblo, Colo.; two daughters, Hazel Gilliam of Omaha and Shirley Bowman of Blair; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Viola Murphy, a son, LaVerne Knudsen, three grandchildren and 11 brothers and sisters.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
