LaVerne (Jack) Knudsen, 68

Funeral services for La Verne Knudsen will be held on Saturday, July 7 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Blair. Burial will be in the Herman Cemetery.

Lawrence La Verne Knudsen was born on May 8, 1922 at rural Herman to Emil and Elsie Knudsen. He was baptized at the Lutheran Church at Orum and attended Tekamah Schools.

He worked for Red Ball Trucking Company of Omaha in the 1950s and drove a tractor-trailer semi for many years. He lived in Pueblo, Colorado for 28 years before returning to Nebraska in 1964. He resided in Blair at the time of his death.

He is survived by his parents, Emil and Elsie Knudsen of Blair, five children, Vernell (Mrs. Ralph) Dewney, and Lawrence (Sonny) Knudsesn, both of Omaha; Linda (Mrs. Ron) Hoffman of Herman; Verne Lee and Roderick Allen Knudsen, ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, four brothers, Donald (Bud), Omaha; Earl, Pueblo, Colorado; Jerry, Ukiah, California and Vernon (Babe), Collinsville, Illinois; three sisters, Viola (Mrs. Pat) Murphy, Wakefield, Nebraska; Hazel (Mrs. Harold) Gilliam, and Shirley (Mrs. Everett) Murphy, both of Omaha, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

McCurdy Funeral Home of Council Bluffs is in charge of arrangements.
