OBITUARY OF MRS. BLACKSTONE, DIED JUNE 9, 1923

Alice Paris Blackstone was born October 2, 1857, near Owego, N.Y., and died June 8, 1923, at the home of her daughter, Florence Townsend, in Minneapolis, Minn., aged 65 years, 8 months and 6 days. She was the only child of S.C. and Adeline Paris.

When a young girl she moved with her parents to Nebraska, residing near Decatur until her marriage to G.A. Blackstone March 3, 1878. Her residence has been almost continuously in Burt county except one year spent in Florida. After returning from Florida, she made her home in Blair.

At an early age Mrs. Blackstone became a member of the Methodist church. She was a woman whose life was lived for the sake of others and was always a devoted mother to her family. She leaves to mourn her passing, Mrs. Florence Townsend of Minneapolis; Mrs. Cora Wood, Tekamah; Harry C., Omaha; George, Hastings, and Dean of Craig. Funeral services were held at the home in Blair, Monday, June 11, at 2:30 p.m. in accordance with Mrs. Townsend’s wishes and interment was made beside her husband in the Tekamah cemetery.

Mrs. Alice Blackstone died in Minneapolis, Minn., on June 8, from carcinoma and the body reached here on Monday accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. Florence Townsend, and the funeral was held at 2 p.m., and the funeral corteg wended its way to Tekamah and placed all that was mortal of this woman in the family lot by the side of her husband, who died last September. Mrs. Blackstone formerly lived in Blair, and a few months ago went to Tekamah to reside. Several weeks ago she went to Minneapolis to make her home with her daughter. She was ill for some time and her trouble was beyond medical help. Mrs. Blackstone was 66 years, 8 months and 6 days old at the time of her passing, and leaves several grown children to mourn her loss.

MRS. G. A. BLACKSTONE

Funeral services were held in this city Monday, June 11, for Mrs. Alice Blackstone at her late home on east South street. Her death occurred in Minneapolis at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. R. Townsend, where she had been for several months, failing rapidly with a cancerous malady.

Mr. and Mrs. Blackstone were residents of Burt county for many years, coming to Blair about three years ago and buying a home. One year later Mr. Blackstone passed away, since which time the home has been closed and Mrs. Blackstone has spent her time with her children.

Interment was made in the Tekamah cemetery beside loved ones gone before.
