Timothy Jean Austin, 67

Timothy Jean Austin, 67, of Staplehurst, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015, in Staplehurst.

Tim was born on January 5, 1948, to Mary (Young) and Wilbur Austin in Omaha. Tim graduated from Kearney High School, Kearney, in 1966. He then attended Kearney State College (now known as UNK) and graduated with a Masters of Social Science in 1972. On November 28, 1968, Tim was united in marriage to Yvonne McBride in McCook.

Tim worked for the Nebraska State Patrol-Capital Security Division as a Communications Specialist until his retirement in 2008. In his free time, he enjoyed history (especially World War II history), military figures and dioramas. Tim was interested in world politics, coin collecting and loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He was an Admiral of the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Austin, Staplehurst; daughters, Diana Wulf, Staplehurst, Debra Austin, Alexandria, Va, Kari Austin, Staplehurst; son, William (Amanda) Austin-Mafilika, Lincoln; grandchildren: Kevin Austin, Cody Cudmore, Cloe Austin, Liam Austin-Mafilika, Nolan Austin-Mafilika; brother and sister-in-law, Tom (Ginger) Austin, Blair; brother, Chris McCay, Calif.; sisters, Sandra (Rick) Fields, Bennington, Susan Austin, Hastings.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur Austin and Mary Ferguson.

A private family service is planned.
