They searched available resources for information on the death of Theo McCandish (d. 26 Nov 1862). Unfortunately, there was no obituary for Mr. McCandish published within one week of his supplied date of death in either the davenport Democrat or the Davenport Gazette newspapers. Iowa death record begin in 1880 so no ‘civilian’ death record exists prior to this year. Although our Civil war resources confirm that Mr. McCandish was in the 2nd Iowa Battery, they do not have information on his death and our collection of Camp McClellan records begins in 1863.
