IRENE STIER, 63

Funeral services for Irene Stier, age 63 of Blair who died April 12, 1990 of cancer at the Omaha home of her niece, Susan Kmoch, were held 10 a.m. Monday, April 16 at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, with burial in the Blair Cemetery.

Irene Rose Humlicek was born on May 31, 1926 to Cyril and Ida Pospichil Humlicek at Ulysses, Nebraska. She attended school in David City, graduating in 1944.

On August 4, 1947, she married Marvin Stier, also of David City. They had three sons, Larry, Kenneth and James. The Stiers moved to Blair in 1951.

She was a charter member of the Blair Firefighters ladies Auxiliary which was started in 1966. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

In January 1968, she started work as an operator for the Blair Telephone Company, becoming chief operator in February of 1975. She retired on February 1, 1986.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin in March, 1989.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Diana; Kenneth and Jeannine; and James and Marsha Stier, all of Blair. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Christopher, Carissa, Thomas, Michelle and Julie; her mother, Ida Humlcek, David City, Nebraska; a sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Joseph Firmature, Omaha, Nebraska; brother and sister-in-law Richard and Betty Humlicek, David City; father-in-law, Walter Stier, David City; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Allyn and Naomi Brochtrup of Omaha and many nieces and nephews.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
