RITA A. STIEREN, 72

Rita A. Stieren, 72 of Arlington, died Thursday, March 7, 2002 at A. J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.

Funeral services were Saturday, March 9, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont, with Father Owen Korte officiating. interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont.

Rita A. Stieren was born Jan. 6, 1930, in Prague to Andrew and Agnes Woita. She grew up on farms in Saunders County, and was a graduate of Mead High School. She worked as a legal secretary for the law firm of Geroge Haessler in Wahoo. She moved to Colon in 1952, and then to Hooper in 1956. She moved to a farm south of Arlington in Dodge County in 1964. She had worked in Arlington as the office clerk for OPPD for 23 years.

She married Harry M. Rasmussen on June 14, 1952; he preceded her in death. She then married Charles Lockhart on Jan. 15, 1972; he also preceded her in death. She married Denis Stieren on Feb. 22, 1979.

Mrs. Stieren was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont; Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 200 Auxiliary; and the Eagles Camping Club, both of Fremont; was a member of V.F.W. Post No. 8332 Auxiliary of Arlington; and the Riverland Park Camp Ground in Blair.

She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Bill Menking, Connie and Dale Lauritsen, and Michelle and Mike Baker, all of Arlington, and Sheila and David Monke of Fontanelle; stepsons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Patti Lockhart and Randy and Jan Stieren, all of Fremont, and Al and Ronda Stieren of Denver, Colo.; stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Gilbert Brainard Jr. and Deanne and marlon Nelson, all of Fremont, Denise and Joe Ruppert and Jodi and Daryl Miller of Miami, Okla., and Barbara Stieren of Norfolk; mother, Agnes Woita of Wahoo; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Roseanne Woita of Fremont, sister-in-law, Bernadette Woita of Colon; 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, two husbands, and a brother, Raymond Woita.

Memorials are suggested to St. Patrick’s New Church Building Fund, and the Arlington Community Fund.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.
