Bernice E. Coad, 82, of Fremont, died Friday, April 18, 2008, the A. J. Merrick Manor of Fremont.

Funeral services were Monday, April 21, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. Interment was in Memorial Cemetery.

Bernice Sommers was born Sept. 19, 1925, in Fremont to Carl and Meta (Giesselmann) Sommers. She grew up in Fremont, and graduated from Fremont High School in 1943.

In 1946, she graduated from the Clarkson Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse in the hospital in Fremont for 27 and a half years, retiring in 1990.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, were she had been baptized and confirmed.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and David Litman of Arlington,Va; son, Jeff Coad of Omaha and fiancée, Janice Kent; sister, Karolyn Cernik of Fremont.

Memorials are suggested to the Endowment Fund of Trinity Lutheran Church and to the Fremont Area Medical Center Foundation.
