Valura Cochran, 97, of Decatur died early Saturday morning, March 19, 1988, at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa, after a lengthy illness.

She was born on October 29, 1890, at Whiting, Iowa, to Warren and Maude (Walden) Huff.

She was united in marriage to Winfield “Scott” Cochran on February 17, 1915, at Pender.

The couple resided in Seattle, Washington, from 1943 to 1957 when they moved to Decatur.

Valura was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church at Decatur.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Alyce Mae Cochran of Decatur; one daughter, Joan Church of Seattle, Washington; three sisters; Madolyn Dingwall and Teressa Sauser, both of Walthill and Lucille Hightree of Decatur; 10 grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Valura was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons (Warren and Merril Cochran), one daughter (Helen Olson), one grandchild, and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 21, 1988, at the Decatur United Methodist Church, Rev. Marion H. Knoell officiated.

Interment was in the Lyons Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Hamel & Peck Funeral Home in Tekamah.
