GILBERT STIVERS IS BURIED IN ULYSSES

Funeral services were held Monday, December 15, at the United Methodist Church in Ulysses, Nebraska, for Gilbert Stivers who died December 10, 1980. Rev. Wayne Schreurs conducted the 1:30 pm services. Burial was in the Ulysses Cemetery.

Gilbert Stivers was born July 20, 1898 in Ulysses to Christopher and Elizabeth Brown Stivers. He worked for the Burlington Railroad and for the City of Ulysses and had been a relief depot agent and steamfitter before his retirement. He lived with his son, Robert Stivers, and his family for several years before moving to Crowell Home about eleven months ago.

He is survived by one son, Robert Stivers, now of Lincoln and formerly of Blair; and two daughters, Mrs. Kathleen Stubbs, Austin, Texas; and Mrs. Elvin (Doris) Vachal, Yorba Linda, California. Nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive him.

Pallbearers were Donald Mashek, Maurice Mashek, Emil Klement, Frank Klement, Eugene Kratochvil, and Steve Wynegar.

Memorials may be given to the Ulysses Township Library.
