RITES TUESDAY FOR MRS. ARTHUR STOKES

Funeral services for Mrs. Arthur Stokes, who died Saturday, will be held Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock at the Christian Church in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

Mr. and Mrs. Stokes are former Herman and Blair residents.

# 2 - - MRS. ARTHUR STOKES BURIED TUESDAY

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Arthur Stokes, 76, at Missouri Valley on Tuesday of this week. Mr. and Mrs. Stokes, for a number of years lived in Washington county and farmed in the Thone School district area.

Mrs. Stokes was born August 3, 1886 at Magnolia, Iowa. She was a graduate of the Missouri Valley schools and a telephone operator at that place for a number of years. She was married to Arthur O. Stokes of Logan, Iowa and after a time they moved to Washington County to farm. They remained in this area for twelve years.

In 1959 they retired from farming and moved back to Missouri Valley.

Mrs. Stokes suffered a severe paralytic stroke last Friday evening and died the following morning at the Missouri Valley hospital. She was the last of her immediate family and is survived only by her husband.

The Stokes are no relation to the Stokes family which lives in the Blair area.
