CHARLES “LESTER” STOKES, 79
The funeral for Charles “Lester” Stokes, 79 of Fremont, who died April 20, 1994 at A. J. Merrick Manor in Fremont was Friday, April 22 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Burial was in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
Charles Stokes was born October 27, 1914 in Herman where he grew up. He was in the auto repair business and retired in 1978 and lived in Fremont.
He married Vonita Larsen in 1937 in Kennard. She preceded him in death in 1987.
He married Leila Cowsky October 19, 1962. She preceded him in death November 9, 1993.
He was also preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Survivors include a son, Terry of Evergreen, Colorado; a step-son David Cowsky, Mount Shasta, California; a daughter, Cheryl Thompson of Dayton, Ohio; a step-daughter, Jacqueline Cole of Worthington, Minnesota; three brothers, James and Earl of Blair and Jay, Jr. of Fremont; two sisters, Laura Petersen of Herman and Mardelle Wulf of Blair; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
