SHIRLEY JAY STOKES, 85
Services for Shirley Jay Stokes, 85 who died December 26, 1991, formerly of Washington County and Herman, Nebraska, were Monday, December 30 at Nine Mile Falls, Washington.
Shirley Jay Stokes was born December 5, 1906 at Herman to Jay P. and Maude May Arnold Stokes. At an early age he left Washington County and for a number of hears was a Greyhound bus driver in the southwest. After retiring, he moved to Oklahoma and had just recently moved to the state of Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Louella (Mrs. Ray) Rolfs and Marjorie (Mrs. Velmar) Katt.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Ann Stokes, Ridge Crest, California; Steve and Sue Stokes, Sparks, Nevada; and Ken and Gail Stokes, Nine Mile Falls, Washington; two daughters, Mary Alice Brown and Patricia June Hovendick; two sisters, Laura Petersen, Herman; and Mardel (Mrs. Harlan) Wulf of Blair; four brothers, James Stokes and Earl Stokes, both of Blair and Jay P. Stokes and Lester Stokes of Fremont; and 13 grandchildren.
Riplinger Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
