Services Held For James Kolterman

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 26, in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wahoo for James Donald Kloterman, 16, son of Wahoo Police Chief John Kolterman and a cousin of Brian and Joel Kolterman of Blair.

The Rev. Kent Morse officiated. Burial was in Sunrise Cemetery in Wahoo.

The teenager died following an accident on July 23, 1983, at the junction of Nebraska 63 and a county road southeast of Wahoo. He was a passenger in a pickup truck that collided with a semi-tractor trailer at about 12:13 a.m.

He and William E. Schliefert, Jr., were both killed in the accident. The driver, Robert Taylor, 17, is hospitalized at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Omaha. The semi driver was not injured.

James Donald Kolterman was born August 23, 1966, in Omaha. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the high school swing choir and golf team.

He would have been a senior this coming year and was active in music courses. He was a writer, composer and conductor and would have played lead trombone in the band this year.

He is survived by his parents, John and Sharon Kolterman of Wahoo; a brother, John; and a sister, Jane, of Wahoo. Paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kolterman, Sr., and a maternal grandmother, Mrs. Margaret Ellsberry, all of Wahoo; and family in the Blair area.
