Vernon R. Koopman, 57

Services for Vernon R. Koopman, 57 of rural Fremont who died January 7, 1991 at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County were Thursday, January 10 at Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont. Rev J.W. Berry officiated. Burial was in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

Vernon R. Koopman was born June 23, 1933 in Pender. He grew up in the Pender-Emerson area, moving to Fremont in 1958. He was a building contractor and a co-owner of Builders Construction Co. in Fremont.

He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 200 of Fremont.

He married Arlene Ernest July 24, 1960. She died January 18, 1981. He married Millie Westphalen Walkenhorst May 19, 1983 in Fremont. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Kevin Koopman of Hickman Air Force Base in Honolulu, Hawaii and Brian Koopman of Edwards Air Force Base in California; two daughters, Beth (Mrs. John) Von Seggern of Nickerson and Rhonda (Mrs. Mark) Sensibaugh of Wahoo; three stepsons, Roland Walkenhorst of DesMoines, Iowa; Gary Walkenhorst of Cedar Bluffs and Kevin Walkenhorst of Mesa, Arizona; three step-daughters, Sandra (Mrs. James) Penwell of Grand Island; Marsha (Mrs. Dan) Lliteras of Phoenix, Arizona; and Viki Walkenhorst of Cedar Bluffs; his stepmother, Adella Koopman of Hooper; a brother, Kenneth Koopman of Christchurch, New Zealand; a stepbrother, Kenneth Kruse of Columbus; four sisters, Evelyn (Mrs. Ed) Doescher of Wakefield; Mildred (Mrs. Orville) Zeisler, Mylet Belt and Janice (Mrs. Les) Kubik, all of Emerson; three stepsisters, Reanna (Mrs. Ernie) Forseberg of Fremont; Ardith (Mrs. Don) Osbahr of Hooper and Mylet Loecker of South Sioux City; a half-sister, Becky (Mrs. Bob) Comstock of Rapid City, South Dakota; 15 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Memorials have been established to the church, the American Heart Association and the American Lung Association.
