Ethel Mae Loudon Sylvis, 94

Ethel Mae Loudon Sylvis, 94, of Lawson, Mo., passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, May 12, 2015. She was born Nov. 16, 1920, to Loyal L. and Grace (Kirk) Loudon. She graduated from high school in Herrick, S.D. Ethel moved with her parents to rural Blair in 1941. She resided in the Blair area for 65 years and became a true Nebraskan through-and-through. She married Charles A. Sylvis April 13, 1946, and this union was blessed with two daughters: Janice and Cynthia. Ethel was a career employee of AT&T and retired from Western Electric in 1981. Ethel joined family in the Lawson, Mo., area 20 years after the passing of her beloved husband, Charlie, in 1985.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband; her parents; two sisters: Bernita Viles and Florence Klundt; two brothers: James Loudon and one brother in infancy; and a great-granddaughter, Emilee Ludeke.

Ethel is survived by her her sister-in-law, Mary Loudon; her daughters: Janice and Robert Christensen II, Cynthia and William E. Brunz; eight grandchildren: Robert Christensen III, Mike Christensen, Gina Grant, Sira Weaver, Amanda Brunz, Melissa Brunz, Jennifer Black and William Brunz; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 15, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 141 S. 20th Street, in Blair, with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery immediately following services. Arrangements under the direction of Cashatt Funeral Home: 816-587-8200.

Memorial gifts will be given to the Ronald McDonald House and Trinity Lutheran Church.
