Services for Mary Jean Ferguson, 68, who died October 7, 1995, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair were Wednesday, October 11, at the Hamel-Peck-Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah. Elder Lloyd Olson officiated. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery at Decatur.

Mary Jean Ferguson was born October 7, 1927, in Blair to Fred and Minnie Andersen Young. She attended school in Decatur, graduating from Decatur High School in 1945.

She married Wilbur Austin September 1, 1946. They had four children, Tim, Tom, Sandy and Susie.

On October 8, 1967, she married Alfred Ferguson. They lived for many years on a farm west of Herman. Upon retiring, they bought a home in Herman and lived there until Alfred’s death in 1991. At that time, she moved to Blair.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ned Young and her husband, Alfred.

She is survived by her sons, Tom Austin of Blair and Tim Austin of Staplehurst, Nebraska; daughters, Sandy Bryan of Blair and Susie McKinnis of Kennard; sisters, Bonnie Otte and Mina Warren, both of Blair and Doris Harris of Torrington, Wyoming; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Karen Strange was organist.

Joel Burdess, Michael Burdess, William Austin and Lance Cudmore were casket bearers.
