Alvin G. Ohrt, 95, of Fort Calnoun, died Thursday, April 9, 2009, in Blair.

Funeral services were Monday, April 13, at Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church. Interment was in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Alvin G. Ohrt was born May 27, 1913, in Washington County, where he would reside his entire life.

He married Clara Hendricksen on Feb. 27, 1935, in Fort Calhoun.

He was a member of Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years. He was also a member of Solomon Lodge No. 10 in Fort Calhoun for more than 50 years, and was the Jordan Medal holder for the lodge. He was an original member of the Fort Calhoun Rural Fire District; and a board member of the Fort Calhoun Township Wranch School Board.

He spent his life farming the family land, raising his livestock and always found time to do plenty of hunting and fishing. However, he greatly cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren most of all. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Clara; son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Kathy Ohrt of Fort Calhoun; sister, Mildred Lantefield of Fremont; grandchildren and spouses, Amy Jo Thomas, Annette and Terry Eyman, Adam and Keli Ohrt; great-grandchildren, Brett, Jasmine, Brooke, Breann, Jaisa, Robert and Waylon.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley.

Memorials are suggested to the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church building fund, or Fort Calhoun Fire and Rescue.

Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

VISITATION Sunday 5-8pm with a Masonic Service at 7:30pm both at Funeral Home. FUNERAL SERVICE Monday 10am at Ft. Calhoun Presbyterian Church. Interment Ft. Calhoun Cemetery. Memorials to Ft. Calhoun Presbyterian Church Building Fund or Ft. Calhoun Fire and Rescue.
