Richard E. Morton, E Co, 3rd NE Spanish American War Blair Courier 1 Feb 1900

Word was received in Herman last week of the death of Ray Morton, who was recently killed in action in the Philippines. Ray will be remembered as the grandson of the late Postmaster Richards, and was reared to manhood in this city. He was with Company E. Third Nebraska, at Havana, Cuba, and returned with the members of the company to Herman. After a visit among friends in the city and vicinity for about one month he left for Manila and met death in active service. He leaves a mother and several brothers and sisters residing in Pender this state.
