Everett W. Stork, 94, of Blair died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009 at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m.

Everett W. Stork was born on August 14, 1915, at the farm home of his parents, Edward A. and Ida (Echtenkamp) Stork. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church north of Arlington. He attended St. Paul’s Parochial School and Rose Hill School. One winter he attended a training course for farming at the University of Nebraska.

He married Verna Wulf on March 15, 1936. They had four children.

Mr. Stork was a lifelong farmer and cattle feeder who lived west of Blair his entire life. Having been a 4-H member himself, he started a 4-H Club - The Orum Feeders - in 1949 and that club is still active. He was chairman of the County r-H Committee. He served on the Washington County Fair Board in the ‘50s. Last year, he was the Grand Marshall of the Washington County Fair Parade. He was a founding director for the Blair Hospital and served on Memorial Community Hospital’s Board of Directors from 1956 to 1971. He was an Ambassador for Ak-Sar-Ben and also served on the council at First Lutheran Church.

In recent years, he planted lots of flowers and especially was proud of his prize-winning bouquets of gladioli. He won the best bouquet of gladioli at the county fair for the past eight years.

He is survived by his four children and their spouses, Ronald and Judy Stork, Janice and Tom Lippincott, Susan and Jim Bensen, all of Blair; and Roger and Donna Stork of Colorado and Texas; eight grandchildren - - Mark Lippincott, Julene Warren, Scott Stork, all of Blair; Shari McCain of Fremont; Andrea Pavell of Texas; Dr. Travis Stork of Tennessee; Keri Leiber and Lance Claussen, both of California; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Verna Vogt of Arlington; and brother, Marvin Stork of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years and a brother, Elmer.

Memorials are suggested to the Washington County Fair, Memorial Community Hospital, or the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

Everett Stork, a farmer and cattle feeder known for his award-winning bouquets of gladioli flowers , has died at age 94.

He lived by himself on a farm a few miles west of Blair, a half-mile from where he was born.

Stork was chairman of Washington County’s 4-H Committee; served on the County Fair Board in the 1950s; and was grand marshall of the fair’s parade last year. He was an Ak-Sar-Ben ambassador and served on the council at First Lutheran Church.

He still drove his Lincoln Town Car up until a few days prior to his death, on Saturday.

Most of all, though, Stork was a family man.

“He was a wonderful father,” said his eldest daughter, Janice Lippincott. “He taught us well about living. He had a strong faith in God. And family was so important to him.”

Stork was born on Aug. 14, 1915 at the farm home of his parents, Edward and Ida Stork. he attended St. Paul’s Parochial School and Rose Hill School. He married Verna Wulf on March 15, 1936. They were married 64 years before her death.

Services were this morning at First Lutheran Church in Blair. He is survived by two siblings, four children, eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

“We will miss him, but we cannot be sad,” Lippincott said.
