FRED W. STORK, 95

Services for Fred W. Stork, 95 of Arlington who died June 18, 1991 at A. J. Merrick Manor in Fremont were Saturday, June 22 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont. Rev. Wendell Hamilton officiated. Burial was in St. Paul’s Cemetery north of Arlington with military graveside services by Arlington American Legion Post No. 71 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8332.

Fred W. Stork was born February 16, 1896 in Arlington. He was a lifetime resident of the Arlington area.

He served in the United States Army during World War I in Europe from October, 1917 to March, 1919. He received shrapnel wounds in Argonne.

He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont; a former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church near Arlington where he held several offices in the church; was a life member of Arlington American Legion Post No. 71 and a former member of Arlington Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8332. He was a charter member of the Arlington Rural Fire Protection Board and a past president of Concordia Mutual Insurance Co.

He married Louise Stork September 28, 1921 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church near Arlington. She preceded him in death November 18, 1959.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Casper H. and Anna Brinkmann Stork; a brother, Ernest Stork; four sisters, Anna Vogt, Amelia Schmidt and two infants.

He is survived by a son, Robert of Arlington; a daughter, Gertrude Stork of Arlington and a granddaughter.

Pallbearers were Ernest Vogt, Rupert Vogt, Harris Vogt, Curtis Schmidt, Leon Sperling and Don Lottman.

Sandy Sukstorf was organist. Rachel Jensen was soloist.

Memorials have been established to the church and the Arlington Rescue Squad.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Funeral Service 10:30 AM Saturday, June 22, 1991 Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Fremont, Nebraska. Officiating: Pastor Wendell Hamilton; Organist: Sandy Sukstorf ; Soloist: Rachel Jensen: "My Soul's Best Friend" and "What Joy and Blessing". The Funeral Congregation sang "Behold A Host Arrayed in White" #192 and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" #264.

Pallbearers were Ernest Vogt, Rupert Vogt, Harris Vogt, Curtis Schmidt, Leon Sperling, and Don Lottman.

Memorials were established to the church and the Arlington Rescue Squad.

Military Graveside Services were conducted by Arlington American Legion Post #71 and V.F.W. Post #8332 at St. Paul Cemetery, Arlington, Nebraska.

FRED W. STORK

Fred W. Stork was born February 16, 1896 at Arlington, Nebraska to Casper H. and Anna (Brinkmann) Stork. He was baptized March 22, 1896 and was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith on May 9, 1909, both at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He was united in Holy Matrimony with Louise Stork on September 28, 1921 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Louise preceded him in death on November 18, 1959.

Fred entered the U.S. Army on October 2, 1917 and served during World War I in Europe. He received shrapnel wounds while serving in Argonne and was honorably discharged on May 13, 1919. Fred was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont and was a life time member of Arlington American Legion Post #71. He was a former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and held several offices there. He also was a former member of Arlington V.F.W. Post #8332, was a past president of Concordia Mutual Insurance Company, and was one of the original members of the Arlington Rural Fire Protection Board.

Fred passed from this life on June 18, 1991 at the A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont at the age of 95 years. He is survived by one son and one daughter, Robert Stork and Gertrude Stork, both of Arlington, and by one granddaughter, Erika.

Also preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, Ernest, and 4 sisters: Anna Vogt, Amelia Schmidt, and 2 infants.
