MARTIN C. STORK, 89

Former Arlington resident, Martin C. Stork, 89, died Friday, Feb. 24, 2006 at his home in Fremont.

Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 27 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington. Interment was in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.

Martin C. Stork was born March 4, 1916 in Orum to August and Maria (Kroeger) Stork. He grew up in Washington County where he attended Bisbee School. He attended an agricultural trade school on the campus of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln for one year. He was a farmer north of Arlington. He moved into Arlington in 1996 and then to Fremont in 2002.

He married Emma H. Wiig on June 27, 1944 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She died Feb. 17, 1982.

Mr. Stork was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he served on various boards and held church offices. He was a long time member of the Lutheran Layman’s League.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Del and Roxie Stork of Lincoln; daughter, Marsha Stork of Lincoln; two grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Harlan and Fern Stork of Arlington.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma; and sister, Viola Dunklau and an infant sister.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

The funeral for Martin C. Stork, 89, of Fremont, formerly of Arlington, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington.

He died Friday, Feb. 24, 2006 at his home.

Stork was born March 4, 1916 in Orum to August and Maria (Kroeger) Stork. He grew up in Washington County, attending Bisbee School in Washington County. He later attended an agricultural trade school on the campus of University of Nebraska-Lincoln for one year. He married Emma H. Wiig on June 27, 1944 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington. She died Feb. 17, 1982. He farmed north of Arlington before moving into Arlington in 1996. He then moved to Fremont in 2002.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington, serving on various boards and in church office positions. He was a long-time member of Lutheran Laymen’s League.

He is survived by: a son, Del (and wife, Roxie) Stork of Lincoln; a daughter, Marsha Stork of Lincoln; a brother, Harlan (and wife, Fern) Stork of Arlington; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a sister, and an infant sister.

The Rev. Rick Kanoy will officiate Monday’s service. Visitation will be 1:30-8 p.m. Sunday, with family receiving friends 1:30-3 p.m. at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington. Visitation also will be one hour prior to the service Monday at the church. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Arlington.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
