Victor Stork, 78 of Fremont, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002 at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont with the Rev. Phillip Vance, the Rev. Tracy Nelson and Vicar Michael Myer officiating. Interment with military honors will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, north of Arlington.

Visitation began Thursday, Nov. 7, at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont, and will also be held at the church on Friday for one hour before services.

Victor Stork was born July 16, 1924 on the farm near Arlington to Martin and Helena (Laaker) Stork. he was a 1943 graduate of Arlington High School.

He served in the United States Army during 1945 and 1946, with a year of that spent in Okinawa.

On April 27, 1947, he married Violet Knecht at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church north of Arlington.

He farmed west of Herman and near Arlington until 1957, when he moved to Fremont. In Fremont, he worked for the Diers Farm and at American Kimberchicks. In 1967, he went to work for Daubert Construction, where he worked for 20 years. He then semi-retired and worked for Trinity Lutheran Church in the maintenance department.

Mr. Stork was associated with the Fremont Softball Association as a coach, player and umpire for 30 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Fremont, and had served on many of the church’s boards. He was also a member of American Legion Post No. 71 of Arlington.

He is survived by his wife, Violet; daughters and a son-in-law, Rita Smith of Fremont and Diane and Gary Feldman of Litchfield; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Terry Stork of Elkhorn and Dale and Kathy Stork of Arlington; five grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Phyllis Stork of Upland, Calif.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Gretchen and Marlen Wolf of Fremont.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church and to the Grace Hospice.

Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.
