Earl Korshoj, 70

Earl S. Korshoj, 70 of Fremont died at his home Thursday, Aug. 28, 1997.

Services were Monday at the First Lutheran Church with Rev. Mark Grorud and Rev. Norman Freund officiating. Burial was in the Frazier Cemetery near Missouri Valley, Iowa.

Korshoj was born Jan. 6, 1927 to Chris and Esther (Madsen) Korshoj at Herman. He was a 1944 graduate of the Herman High School and attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. He worked for Korshoj Construction of Blair and then Korshoj Lumber at Herman. He moved to Fremont in 1950 and operated Korshoj Lumber in Fremont for 27 years. On Feb. 17, 1952, he married Virginia Clark in Logan, Iowa.

He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, was past president of the Nebraska Lumber-man’s Association, was a member of the Nebraska Softball Hall of Fame, Landmark Masonic Lodge No. 222 A.F. & A.M. of Herman, a past long-time member of the Fremont Kiwanis Club and sponsored the girls’ softball team, Lumberjills, for many years.

Survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, Erik and Tam Korshoj of Omaha; daughters and son-in-law, Lisa and Rex Davies of Columbus and Merri Chris Korshoj of Elkhorn; three grandchildren, Jenna Davies, Tara Korshoj and Lee Jorshoj; a brother, Frank Korshoj of Herman and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Gene Megrue of Blair and Marilyn and Leonard Jackson of Fremont.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia on June 15, 1994; his parents; and a brother, Raymond.

Memorials may be given to First Lutheran Church, Hospice Program of Memorial Hospital and the American Cancer Society.

Ludvigsen Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
