Lt. Rice of Air Corps Dies in Italy

Was Graduate of Arlington High School, Later of Fremont

Lt. John Rice, 22, former resident of Arlington and Fremont, was killed in action in Italy serving with the air forces, relatives have learned. He was the son of Mr. Frank Rice of Cheyenne, Wyo.

A graduate of Arlington high school, Lt. Rice had spent most of his life in the Arlington-Fremont area. For several years prior to his entrance into the army, he had lived in Fremont. His parents moved to Cheyenne more than a year ago, where Rice is employed with the Union Pacific and his wife, mother of the dead flier, is employed in a defense plant.

Surviving besides his parents are Lt. Rice’s wife, who lives in the east, and a brother, Pfc. Bob Rice, with the army medical corps in Denver.
