Ott and Jack Richter received word Wednesday morning that their nephew, John Richter, eldest son of their brother, Henry, living at Burke, So. Dakota, was dead at Lincoln, at the State University training camp where he had been but a short time since enlistment in the mechanical department of the service.

John was born here in Blair and lived here until his parents removed to South Dakota some eleven years ago when he secured employment in Omaha with the Baum Iron Co., where he has been ever since until his recent enlistment in the army. He was married to an Omaha girl two years ago and they have lived happily since until death separated them. John was 28 years of age. When the report of his illness came to Omaha Mr. Baum, head of the concern that he has been with so many years, at once sent instructions to Lincoln to employ the best medical talent and nurses obtainable and give him every care, regardless of expense, and send bills for same to him and he would pay them.

Mr. and Mrs. Richter, parents of deceased, came from their home in Dakota immediately report of his illness was received by them but arrived too late to see him alive.

Funeral service was delayed until Saturday so that his sisters in Dakota might be present. An older sister lives in Omaha and was with him during his illness and at the time of his death.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Richter were in Blair, between trains, yesterday visiting at the Ott. Richter home and with friends and former neighbors who were rejoiced to see them but sympathized deeply with them in their recent bereavement. They came from their home on the Rosebud, in South Dakota, in response to notice of the serious illness at Lincoln of their son, John, arriving there too late to see him alive.

Military funeral Saturday, Nov. 9, at 2 p. m. from Taggart's chapel, 2212 Cuming St. Interment Holy Sepulcher cemetery.
