Addie May Spiker Rites Held Tuesday

Addie May Spiker, 76 years old, a lifetime resident of Washington County died Saturday, February 5th at the McBride Nursing Home in Blair. She was born July 20th, 1889 in the Spiker vicinity and was an only child of Harry and Nellie Neff.

On July 1, 1908 she married Cassius M. Spiker at the Court house in Blair, Nebraska. He preceded her in death on August 6, 1934. She took over his duties as assessor in Grant Township after his death. Five children were born to Mrs. Spiker: a son Cecil, who died in infancy; Lloyd of Herman, who died about a year ago; two sons, LeRoy and Chester, both of Herman, who survive; one daughter, Mrs. Howard W. Taylor (Nellie) also survives; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Joe Tiele and his daughter Mrs. Allen Andersen (Imogene) of Wichita, Kansas, made their home with Mrs. Spiker for many years prior to her death.

Funeral services for Mrs. Spiker were held Tuesday at 2:00 o’clock from Bendorf Funeral Home. Officiating were Mr. Leslie Olsen and Mr. La Ron Branson. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were grandsons: Gene, Richard and Willard Spiker, Howard Taylor, Jr., Jennings McCourt and Terry Carmichael.
