Services For Chet Spiker Were Monday

Services for 64 year old Chester M. Spiker were Monday afternoon, September 26, at 2 p.m. in the Herman Legion Hall at Herman, Nebraska. Rev. Jackson Sherwood and Rev. Wm. Whittaker officiated.

Mr. Spiker died on Friday afternoon at the Blair Memorial Hospital. Mr. Spiker apparently suffered a heart attack as he drove up in from of the Triple W. Worm Farm in Blair. The Blair Rescue Squad was called and he was taken to the Blair Hospital.

Surviving Mr. Spiker are his wife Marie, two children, four grandchildren and five step-grandchildren. The children are Mrs. Terry Carmichael of Blair and Nancy (Mrs. Denny) Colgan of Herman, and one great-step-grandchild.

Also surviving is one brother and one sister. The brother is LeRoy Spiker, of Herman. The sister is Mrs. Howard (Nellie) Taylor of Blair.

Chet Spiker was born on June 2, 1913 at Herman, Nebraska. On June 2, 1940, he was married to Marie McDonald. The couple farmed in the Rose Hill School District and later Mr. Spiker operated a garage at Spiker, Nebraska, and worked as a mechanic until about a year ago. Since that time he has been foreman at the Triple W Ecology Farm in Blair.

Burial was in the Blair Cemetery with the Campbell Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
