Lloyd Spiker Died Last Friday

Lloyd Emmitt Spiker, 55-year old Herman man, died Friday at his home following a short illness. He had been a resident of the Herman area all of his life, having been born there May 11, 1910. He had devoted his life to farming.

He was the son of Cassius and Addie Neff Spiker, early-day county residents who established the rural community known as Spiker.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, 2 daughters and one son. The daughters are Rosemary, Mrs. Mickey Moore of Blair, and Romona, Mrs. Clyde Harper, of Tucson, Arizona. The son, Gene Spiker, lives at Herman.

There are seven grandchildren and Mr. Spiker’s mother, Mrs. Addie Spiker, also surviving.

Two brothers, Chester Spiker and LeRoy Spiker, both of whom reside in the rural Spiker vicinity, survive. A sister, Mrs. Howard Taylor, Sr., also survives.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Herman Methodist Church, the Rev. Percy Bruns conducting the service. Burial was made in the Herman cemetery directed by the Bendorf Funeral Home of Blair.

Pallbearers were Stanley Marsh, William and Ivan Hovendick, Clifford West, Harold Wulff and Glen Flake.
