Mrs. E. Spraker Funeral is Held

Kennard Woman, Aged 76, Died at her Home There Last Wednesday.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Kennard Methodist church for Mrs. Elvira Spraker, 76, of Kennard, who died the day before Thanksgiving after a short illness. Rev. A.E. Fowler of Winside was in charge, assisted by the Kennard pastor, Rev. E.P. Booher. Interment was in the Blair cemetery.

Mrs. Spraker was one of the most active workers in the Kennard Methodist church; only the day before she became ill she had spent the day with other members of the Ladies Aid Society, of which she was president, making foodstuffs for contribution to Methodist institutions.

As Elvira Rosenbaum, Mrs. Spraker was born at Maryville, Missouri, April 30, 1858. In the spring of 1863 she came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rosenbaum, to Omaha, where they resided about four years before coming to Washington county, where she had since resided. She had been a Kennard resident since 1899.

She received her education at Maney school, Blair high school and Fontanelle college, after which she taught three years.

Four Children Survive

In the spring of 1881 she was married to James E. Spraker of Marion, Virginia, and to them were born eight children, four of whom, with the husband, preceded her in death. Surviving are two sons, Luther of North Platte and Ernest of Kennard; two daughters, Mrs. Edna Benton of Bayard, and Miss Callie, the Pilot-Tribune Kennard reporter; one brother, J. C. Rosenbaum of Winside; one sister, Mrs. Martha Disch of Henryetta, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren, and three great-grandsons.

At the funeral rites, Mrs. Floyd Alexander of Belden, Mrs. Harland French, Frank Byers and Lester Kronberg, with Mrs. Gifford French at the piano, furnished beautiful musical selections. Bearers were W.E. Kingdon, Nela Peterson, W.A. French, L.M. Larsen, D.S. Pritchard and Buck Rosenbaum.

Among the many out-of-town persons at this service were Mrs. A.E. Fowler, Mrs. W.J. Misfeldt and Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Rosenbaum, all of Winside; Mr. and Mrs. W.J. George and E.E. Rosenbaum of Fremont; Mr. and Mrs. Erwal Rosenbaum of Arlington; Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. Caldwell and son, Charles, Jr., Harold bates, Mrs. Gladys baker, Evelyn Baker, Mrs. J.L. Rady, Mrs. Mary A. Case, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Doll, all of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. E.G. Carson, Mrs. Cora Badgerow and many others from Blair.

Mrs. Elvira Spraker Dies At Kennard

Mrs. Elvira Spraker, 76, died Wednesday afternoon at her home in Kennard after a two weeks’ illness.

Mrs. Spraker, as Elvira Rosenbaum, was born at Maryville, Mo., April 30, 1858. She came to Omaha in March, 1863, living there four years before coming to Washington county where she had since made her home. She had been a resident of Kennard 35 years.

She received her education at Maney school, Blair high school and Fontanelle college, after which she taught for three years.

She was married to James E. Spraker April 20, 1881 and eight children were born to them, four of whom with the husband preceded her in death. As a member of the Methodist church, she served in various offices of that organization and at the time of her death was president of the Ladies’ Aid Society.

Surviving are two sons, Luther, of North Platte, Ernest, at home, two daughters, Mrs. Edna Benton, of Bayard, and Miss Callie, at home; one brother, J.C. Rosenbaum, of Winside, and Mrs. Martha Disch, of Henryetta, Okla.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Methodist church in Kennard, with Rev. A.E. Fowler, of Winside in charge assisted by Rev. E.P. Booher, of Kennard.
