Lars P. Nelson died at the home of his son, Alva E. Nelson, near Kennard, Sunday, following an illness of some months duration with heart trouble. The funeral was held at the Danish church in this city at 2 o’clock this afternoon, Rev. H. Nielsen officiating. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery by the side of his wife, whose death occurred April 3rd, 1920. Mr. Nelson was born in Denmark, March 24th, 1861, so was just past 66 years of age. He was married there March 13th, 1883, and came to this country in April of the same year, settling at Fremont, where he was employed by the C. & N.W. Ry. Co. He removed to Blair in 1894 and completed 36 years of faithful service with the railroad company and was retired on a pension in 1922. Since that time he has made his home with his son at Kennard. Four sons survive, Olaf G. Nelson, of Genoa, Nebr., L.C. Nelson of Wentover, Wash., Ernest M. Nelson, of Leigh, Nebr., and Alva E. Nelson, of Kennard. Also one daughter, Mrs. Helen Paulsen, of this city, and a foster daughter, Mrs. Rena Hansen, of Kennard. Mr. Nelson was a kind and loving husband and father and made many friends by his cheerful disposition and kindly ways.
