Willard Warrick Killed By Train At Frankfort, Germany

Spec/4 – Willard E. Warrick, serving in the Army near Frankfort, Germany for the past nine months was killed by an electric train last week. It has been reported that he had a flat tire on his car and was walking on the railroad track toward the city for assistance when struck by the fast moving train. He died on August 3rd.

Willard is the son of Bryan Warrick of Blair. His mother, Frances lives in Nahsua, Montana. He was born September 22, 1943 and graduated from Blair High School in June of 1962. After attending Dana College for three years he entered the service of the Army and would have completed his tour of duty the latter part of this year.

Besides his father and mother, he is survived by two brothers, Larry and Donald of Omaha, and a sister, Linda Ralph of Nahsua, Montana. Also his grandmother, Mrs. Blanche Warrick of Blair.

The Bendorf Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. No date has been set, but the services will be held at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Bauserman officiating.

Funeral Services For Specialist 4 Willard E. Warrick

Funeral services were held Monday, August 11th for Spec. 4 Willard E. Warrick, of Blair. Warrick, who was stationed in Germany with the Armed Forces, was killed on Sunday, August 3rd when he was struck by an electric train while walking along the tracks. The car which he had been driving, had developed a flat tire and he was seeking help.

Services were held Monday afternoon at the First Baptist Church in Blair. Flags in the business district were flown at half mast throughout the day in honor of the deceased service man.

The Rev. John Bauserman conducted the service and the Bendorf Funeral Home was in charge of the interment at the Blair Cemetery. Pallbearers were Allan Ward, Donald Beck, Gary Warrick, Willard Warrick, Jr., John Bisbee, and Tom Bisbee. Representatives of the United States Army, from Ft. Riley, Kansas, attended services at the cemetery.

Warrick is survived by his father, Bryan Warrick of Blair, his mother, Frances, of Nahsua, Montana, two brothers and a sister, Mrs. Blanche Warrick, of Blair, is his grandmother.

Willard Warrick Honored Posthumously

Relatives in Blair recently received a notice from the U.S. Army that Willard Ellis Warrick, who died in German on August 3rd, was honored by being posthumously promoted to a Sergeant from Specialist 4-(SP4).
