Joann (Japp) Lorenzen

Joann (Japp) Lorenzen was born July 26, 1939 to Fritz and Helen Japp in Blair, and entered into the arms of her Savior on May 29, 2015. Joann was raised on a farm near Kennard with her three brothers and her sister. Family has always been an important part of her life. She spent time with family when her mother was sick and was blessed when her dad married Alma Wrich Japp.

Joann graduated from Kennard High School and attended Wayne State College. She married John Jack Lorenzen on June 7, 1958. Joann was active in Stephens Ministry, PEO, and Jobs Daughters. She was a member of Eastridge Presbyterian Church for 51 years serving as an elder as well as a deacon.

Jack and Joann shared a love of dancing and spending time in their motor home traveling. They enjoyed spending time with family and friends at polka festivals, Shrine trips and traveling to many specials places around the country as well as outside of the US.

Joann is survived by her husband of 56 years, daughter Jacque (Pat) Scanlon of Shawnee, Kan., daughter Renee (Jeff) Young of Omaha, son Rich (Danae) Lorenzen of Lincoln, and son Randy (Melissa) Lorenzen of Omaha; grandchildren Michael (Meg Arel) Scanlon, Meghan and Matt Scanlon, Anna (Justin) Pratt, Alli (Scott) Winter, Dustin, Nick and Alex Lorenzen, Nate, Emily, Kaitlyn and Josh Lorenzen, and great-granddaughters Charlotte Pratt and Emma Arel, sister Darlene Harper of Kennard, brother Merle (Debbye) Japp, Hattiesburg, Miss., brother Bill (Mari) Japp of Kennard, sister-in-law Mayone Japp of Washington, Neb., sister-in-law Lois (Paul) Olson of Prior Lake, Minn., brother-in-law Phil (Marilyn) Lorenzen of Omaha, brother-in-law Carl (Diane) Lorenzen of Blair as well as many nieces and nephews.

Joann was preceded in death by her parents Fritz, Helen and Alma Japp, her in-laws Ed and Dolly Lorenzen, her brother Richard Japp, brother-in-law Bill Harper and nephew Bruce Harper.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm Saturday, May 30, at Butherus Maser Love. A celebration of life will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, May 31, at Eastridge Presbyterian Church, 1135 Eastridge Drive, Lincoln. The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimers Association, 1500 S 70th, Suite 201, Lincoln, NE 68506 (please note in memory of Joann Lorenzen) or Eastridge Presbyterian Church Stephens Ministry.
