Marvin “Shorty” Marsh, 80

Marvin "Shorty" L. Marsh, 80, of Arvada, Colo., passed gently into the arms of Jesus Saturday, May 30, 2015, at The Waterford at Wilderness Hills in Lincoln, Nebraska. Born January 11, 1935, to Stanley and Alta Marsh in Blair, he relocated to the Denver area with then-wife, Mary “Marg” (Lemon) in 1958, where he was employed for 34 years with Colorado Public Service. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and his community as a long-time little league baseball coach. In addition to these, his life adventures included piloting a single-engine airplane, hunting and fishing, baseball and softball as an athlete, coach, and umpire, a love of bowling and many other sports.

He is survived by sister, Joan Pelnar of Blair; daughters: Shirley Johnson of Bronson, Iowa, and Sheila Anderson of Lincoln; sons-in-law: Dave Johnson and Ron Anderson; grandchildren: Jennifer (Jason) Dowty, Kelli Anderson, Lindy (Nigel) [Anderson] Tinarwo, Andrew (Becca) Johnson, Erin Johnson, and Tom Anderson; great-grandchildren: Riley and Faith Dowty, and Kinley and Dylan Johnson; nieces and nephews: Pam (Mick) Ellis, Cathy Coble, LeRoy Gilbert, Fred Keil, Mark Marsh, Maggie Marsh, and Carolyn Burlingame.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, (Marian) Marlene Keil; brother, Larry Marsh; and son, Tom Marsh.

A celebration of life will be held beginning at 4 p.m. on June 6 at the St. James United Methodist Church, 2032 S. Cypress St., Sioux City, Iowa. Memorials may be sent to The Waterford, Memory Care, Lincoln, NE.
