MRS. SOREN M. NIELSEN BURIED HERE SUNDAY

Mrs. Soren M. Nielsen passed away at her home in Blair Wednesday, October 20th, after being ill for 3 weeks with a heart ailment. At the time of her death she was 77 years, 3 months and 18 days old.

Maren Nielsen was born in Denmark in the year 1866. She spent her childhood days there, and when still a young woman came to this country, settling in and around Blair. When still in her homeland she was baptized and confirmed a Lutheran and continued to believe in this faith throughout her entire life.

In the year 1896 she was married to Soren M. Nielsen, and the couple immediately took up farming south of Blair. They spent all their days on the farm until the year 1937 when they retired and moved to Blair - a rest we are sure she fully enjoyed.

Seven children were born to this union, all of whom survive. They are Chris P. of Blair, Axel and Alfred S. of Kennard; Carl M. of Eugene, Oregon; Emma (Mrs. Lester C. Hansen), of Blair; Gifford T. of Fort Calhoun; and Ella (Mrs. Ivan Hovendick), of Blair. These, with the husband and 20 grandchildren, mourn deeply the loss of a kind and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Besides these, other relatives and her many friends will miss her kindly smile and friendly nature. Her home was her pride and it always came first.

Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon from the Bendorf Funeral home to First Lutheran Church with Rev. H. C. Jorgensen officiating. Burial was made at the Blair cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred Masters, Carl M. Jensen, Jens Andersen, P. Christensen, N. P. Jensen and A. D. Andersen.

Carl Nielsen came from Eugene, Oregon to be present at the last rites, and will spend a short time with his father and visiting with other relatives before returning to his home in Oregon.
