RICHARD A. STRAUB (veteran)

Funeral services for Richard A. Straub, formerly of Blair, were held at 11 a.m. Monday at John A. Gentleman Westside Chapel, with burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Straub, 39, died of a heart attack Wednesday, January 14, 1987 at Kaseman Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico, said his wife, Trudie.

Straub, a 1964 graduate of Omaha Tech High School, served in the Army during Vietnam War from 1968 to 1969.

Before moving to Blair, Straub was the owner of Dresher’s Cleaning and Laundry Company in Omaha from 1978 to 1982.

Straub was manager of the Lil’Duffer Family Restaurant in Blair from 1982-1983. He managed the Country Cheese Corner, also in Blair.

He then became district manager at Stepanek Dry Cleaners, later known as Stepanek Clothing Care Center, until December 1984.

After working for 18 months in Wichita, Kansas, Straub took a job in Albuquerque, New Mexico, as district manager of Dutch Mill Drycleaners.

Besides his wife, Trudie, survivors include his son, Jon, of Albuquerque; mother, Irene Straub of Omaha; and sisters, Marian Herschlag, Twila Putjenter, and Thelma Herschlag, all of Omaha.

Pallbearers were Dick Sederburg, Denny Grover, Roger Hill, Darrell Meyer, Roger Herschlag, and John Camenzind.
