ELIZABETH A. “BETTY” STREITMATTER, 83

Elizabeth A. “Betty” Streitmatter, 83, died April 4, 2000, in Morton, Ill., after a lingering illness.

Services were Saturday, April 10, 2000, at the United Methodist Church in Peoria, Ill.

Elizabeth A. “Betty” Streitmatter was born in Deer Creek, Illinois.

On June 4, 1947, she married Wilbert W. “Bill” Luschen in Bennington. The couple farmed near Kennard until her husband’s death on Dec. 4, 1968. She continued to live and work on the farm and at Dana College as a cook. She returned to Deer Creek, Ill., in 1969 to take care of her widowed mother.

On Dec. 7, 1970, she married Everett Streitmatter in Peoria, Ill. The couple made their home in Morton, Ill., where she was involved in volunteer work and church activities.

She is survived by her husband, Everett; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Don and Frankie Luschen of Andalusia, Ala.; and Steven Luschen of Morton, Ill.; a daughter, Mary Brown of Iowa City, Iowa; six sisters; three brothers, 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton, Ill., was in charge of arrangements.

Streitmatter, Elizabeth A., 83, Morton, Il., died 4/4/2000 in Morton, IL. She married Everett Streitmatter Dec. 7, 1970 in Peoria, Il., he survives. Also surviving are 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Don Luschen (Frankie) of Andalusia, Ala.; Steven Luschen of Morton, Il.; 1 daughter, Mary Brown of Iowa City, IA. She moved to Nebraska in 1947 where she lived in Bennington and Kennard where she was active in managing the family farm. She was also a cook at Dana College in Blair, NE and then moved back to Morton area in 1969.

Services 10 Sat., Madison Ave Methodist Church. Visitation 5-8pm Fri. at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home, Morton, IL and 9-9:45 am prior to the service, Sat. at the church. Burial will be in Streitmatter Cemetery in Princeville, IL. Memorials may be made to her church at 3201 N. E. Madison Avenue, Peoria, IL 61603
