To honor Bill’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 12, at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island. Dan Naranjo will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army and Grand Island Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Arlington.

Bill was born on August 26, 1917, in Blair, son of Gottlieb and Emma (Wulf) Stork.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters: Pamela (Jack) Zitterkopf of Grand Island and Patricia “Tria” (Jerry) Zitterkopf of Kingman, AZ; granddaughters: Britt (Steve) Reiman of Palmdale, CA, Annika (Jeff) Bergeson of Kingman, AZ, and Alison Zitterkopf of Grand Island; great-grandchildren: Trent Reiman, Blair Reiman, Brooke Bergeson and Beckett Bergeson; along with many extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Irma; brothers: Gilbert Stork and Milo Stork; sisters: Myrtle Hansen and Letha Dickmeyer.

Bill grew up on the family farm near Blair, NE, where he received his education. On June 16, 1941, he entered the U.S. Army, serving in the European theater. During his time in the service, he was in the 13th Airborne, 458th Parachute FA BN, and Battery “B”. He was honorably discharged on November 7, 1945.

He was united in marriage to Irma Nordin on March 3, 1951. Following their marriage, they made their home on the farm in Blair. Bill was employed by Siert Construction in Omaha as a carpenter, and he was a self employed farmer. Later on in life, Bill enjoyed wintering in Arizona, and he made the permanent move for several years until returning home to Nebraska.

Bill enjoyed line dancing, playing cards, reading and traveling. He was a very gifted woodcarver and jewelry silversmith. As a jack of all trades, Bill could fix anything and often heard “take it to Grandpa.” Most of all, Bill loved to spend time with his granddaughters and great-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington, NE.
