BLAIR MAN DIED IN VETS’ HOSPITAL SUNDAY, JULY 25

Cecil Victor Stricklett, known to his friends as “Brigham” Stricklett, died at the Veteran’s Hospital in Omaha last Sunday, July 25th. He was a lifelong resident of Blair and Washington County and was well known here.

The deceased was a musician who had played in a number of dance orchestras and similar organizations throughout the area for years.

He was born at DeSoto, January 2, 1896, and was therefore 75 years of age at the time of his death. He attended school at Blair and grew up in this community. He was a veteran of World War I and in recent years had made his home in Omaha.

He is survived by a niece and two nephews, his wife having preceded him in death. The niece is Mrs. June Woodring, of 762 No. 15th street, Blair and the nephews are Tim Engelke and Bill Engelke of Blair. A brother and a sister are both deceased.

He was a member of the Omaha Musicians Association, the Eagles Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Campbell Mortuary i9n Blair with the Rev. Ray Phelps conducting the service. Roger Stricklett provided vocal music at the service.

Burial was made in the Blair cemetery. Pallbearers were James Pound Sr., Smokey Miller, Albert Phelps, Gail Stricklett, Larry Myers and Harry Tucker.
