OBITUARY

Henrietta R. Bailey was born at West Bend, Wisconsin, May 8, 1843, and died June 11, 1923, at her home in Trimble, Mo., aged 75 years and 29 days.

She was married to John Bradford, November 11, 1872. To this union three children were born, the eldest, a son, died at the age of six years.

She and her husband were both lineal descendants of Gov. Wm. Bradford. She came with her parents to Nebraska in October, 1858 and spent her girlhood days on the farm, now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Leo Cameron. She attended school at the first college erected in Nebraska which was located at Fontanelle. She later taught school in both Washington and Burt counties for a number of years.

She united with the Baptist church at Cuming City June 6, 1864. She was one of the constituent members of the First Baptist church in Herman, also a constituent member of the Baptist church at Trimble, Mo., since 1899.

She joined Filley Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star at Filley, Neb., in 1899.

She always took an active part in church work and in everything that was for good in the community in which she lived. She lived a conscientious Christian life which meant a life of service for her Master and for others.

Funeral services were held at her home at Trimble, Mo., Wednesday afternoon, June 13, at 2 o’clock conducted by her pastor, Rev. L.E. Brown. The singing consisted of three of her most favorite hymns, “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere,” “Beckoning Hands” and “Home of the Soul.”

Mr. Sheway, an old friend of the family made some very touching and appropriate remarks on her life in the church and community which showed in high respect in which she was held there.

The remains were brought to Herman Thursday afternoon and laid to rest by the side of her son and her husband who passed away in 1915. Rev. Wm. Bowden, of the Methodist church had charge of the services held at the cemetery. Music being furnished by the quartette, Mrs. Geo. Lowe, Miss Goldie Sheets, Fred Robertson and Charles Gray.

She leaves to mourn her loss a daughter, Mrs. Geo. Denny, of Trimble, Mo., a son Thomas J. Bradford, of St. Louis, Mo., and one brother, J.C. Bailey, of Herman, Neb., also two granddaughters in Missouri. Beside these she leaves a host of friends here and friends and neighbors in Missouri who will miss her kindness and helpfulness to them. Her life was well spent and she was ready when the Master called her to that better land beyond the skies.
