He is survived by his wife, Alma; sons and daughters-in-law, Marlin and Norman, Bennington; and Loren and Marybeth, Washington; a daughter and son-in-law, Jodeen and Gene Thompson, Waterloo; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or the Bennington Rescue Squad.
