Emma Sprick, 89

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 19 at Livingston-Sondermann Chapel in Grand Island for Emma “Ruth” Sprick, 89, who died at Wedgewood Care Home in Grand Island April 15, 1989. Additional services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, April 20 at Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Chapel in Fremont. Mr. Laurence Davis will officiate at both services. Interment will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

Emma Sprick was born March 6, 1900 in Herman to Frank and Orinda Cram Ericksen. She grew up and was educated in Herman.

She married William Sprick February 4, 1920 at Blair. They farmed in the New England School District area until 1946 when they moved to Fremont. In 1975 they moved to Grand Island and she has been in the Home since 1979.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star in Fremont. She was preceded in death by her husband, William, on December 7, 1977; her parents and four brothers and one sister.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Darline) Janzen of Grand Island; one son, William of Peoria, Illinois; three grandchildren: Douglas Sprick, Rockford, Illinois; Dr. Gary Sprick and Nancy Sprick, both of Tampa, Florida; one great-granddaughter, Caitlyn Sprick, Rockford, Illinois; one step-great-granddaughter, Mrs. Russell (Peggy) Holtorf, Sisters, Oregon; three sisters: Mrs. Dewey (Edith) Hancock, Fremont; Mrs. William (Maude) Ditmer, LaCresenta, California; Mrs. William (Francine) Sylvis, Bozeman, Montana; nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18 in Grand Island, and prior to the services on Thursday, April 20 in Fremont.

Memorials may be given to the family’s choice.
