Clarice was born on April 4th, 1933 in Rorbeck, Iowa. She passed away on June 18th, 2015 at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. She was baptized at the Elk Horn Lutheran Church on September 17th, 1933. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Mable Fredrickson. Clarice is survived by her husband of 61 years, Vaugh; daughters Joy (Mike) Sanford of Conroe, TX; Jill (Phil) Sibole of Omaha, NE and Scott (Linda) Christensen of Cypress, TX. Surviving grandchildren are Logan Sanford, Drace (Sarah) Sanford, Brek, Keeli and Shayli Christensen, Hillery (Kody) Workman and Landon Sibole.

Clarice attended country school and graduated from Elk Horn High School in 1951. She was active in 4H; showed cattle at Ak-Sar-Ben; and had 2 Shelby County grand champions, Ginger and Frosty. She played the trumpet and piano, played basketball, was freshman queen and was chosen Miss Best Dressed. As a senior, she was chosen Campus Leader and Best Girl Athlete. She was also a spelling bee champion.

She went to Dana College in the Fall of 1951; she wanted to become a PE teacher. She was a cheerleader at Dana. She loved sports and went out for basketball and made the team as a freshman. She met Vaughn when he was officiating one of her basketball games. He fouled her out and Clarice was mad! To make up for it, Vaughn asked her out after the game. She accepted and they have been together ever since.

They were married on August 2nd, 1953. They have lived in Bassett, NE; Newman Grove, NE; Missouri Valley, IA; Griswold, IA; Hastings, NE and their last stop was Blair, NE. During these years, they had Joy Lyn, Scott Vaughn and Jill Sue. They moved where Vaughn’s teaching and coaching jobs took them.

Clarice was an active member at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Her faith was always strong.

She was introduced to the jewelry business in Hastings, and worked at Wolff Jewelers in Blair until she retired in 2000. She wore her jewelry well!

Clarice kept a journal daily, collected over 600 bears, loved to entertain, bake, and did a lot of embroidery and handwork. She had a Greeting Card Ministry, sending out decorated cards and envelopes to many. Clarice and Vaughn enjoyed traveling together and had several phenomenal trips: Alaska, Canada and Denmark. She was very proud of her Danish heritage.

In the last few years, they enjoyed taking bus tours. Their favorite trips were the family reunions they planned. Her family was so important to her. She was always willing to tell you about her 7 grandchildren. They all loved their GRAM! On August 2, 2013 Vaughn and Clarice celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary and in December 2013, they took all 17 of their family on a Christmas cruise! It was the highlight of all highlights!

Clarice will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
