KEITH CONKLIN (veteran)

Former Tekamah resident Keith “Lefty” Conklin, 86, of Blair, died Easter Sunday, April 20, 2003, at the Crowell Memorial Home in Blair.

Funeral services were Wednesday, April 23, at the First Presbyterian Church in Tekamah. A Masonic service was held by Masonic Lodge No. 31, A. F. & A.M. Military graveside honors were provided by the V. F. W. Bataan Post No. 3304, and American Legion LaFrenz Post No. 15. Interment was in the Tekamah Cemetery.

Keith “Lefty” Conklin was born Nov. 19, 1916, in Craig to Mac and Beulah (Smith) Conklin. He graduated from Tekamah High School in 1935.

He served in the U.S, Army Air Force during World War II. He entered the Army on May 8, 1942 and was honorably discharged Oct. 7, 1945.

On Feb. 2, 1946, he married Georgia K. Palmer.

Mr. Conklin was the owner and operator of Tekamah Transfer. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the V. F. W. Bataan Post No. 3304, and Masonic Lodge No. 31, A.F.&A.M.

He loved to garden, and was an avid golfer and Husker fan.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia, of Tekamah; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Tom Olson of Blair; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Edwin, and sister, Maxine Egbers.

Hamel-Peck-Pelan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
