FORMER COUNTIAN DIED WEDNESDAY

Artis E. Cook, a one-time Washington County man, died Wednesday in the Veteran’s Hospital in Omaha. He was 86 years old. Death was attributed to a heart attack.

Mr. Cook was born at Fontanelle January 2, 1877 and grew to manhood in that area. He was married to Miss Edna Bullock at Fontanelle on November 1, 1899. Two children died in infancy.

Mr. Cook, who was a butter-maker by trade, lived and worked at Denver, Colorado, Blair, Fremont and finally in Omaha.

He is survived by three sisters and a brother. The sisters are Mrs. Fred Robertson and Miss Beulah Cook both of Herman and Mrs. Dora Sage, of Coldwater, Michigan. The brother is Victor Cook of Dearborn, Michigan.

Mr. Cook was a Spanish-American War veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 3 P.M. at the Swanson Chapel in Omaha. The body will be cremated and the ashes placed in the Fontenelle Oak Lawn Cemetery.
