EARLY BLAIR MERCHANT DIES

Charles Cook, 80 former resident of Blair, Nebraska and later of Wausa and Spencer, Nebraska, passed away March 11th, 1935 at the home of his son, Dean C. Cook, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.

He is survived by three sons and two daughters: Renard E., Wausa, Nebraska; Lucian L., Spencer, Nebraska; Dean C., Beaver Dam, Wisconsin; Mrs. Charles C. Morgan, Omaha, Nebraska; Emma V. Cook, Battle Creek, Michigan and by two brothers: Wesley J. Cook of Omaha; and Edwin F. Cook of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.

The body will be cremated, and later interment will be made at Blair, Nebraska.

Deceased came to Blair with his father, Edwin Cook, about 1874. The father, in partnership with a son-in-law, O. V. Palmer, opened a store where the W. J. Sas store now stands. Later the son-in-law died, and the father, in company with the sons, continued the business until about 1894 when a fire completely swept the store and contents. Later the lots were sold to Sas Bros. who built the present building.

Blair people who know the family hold them in the highest esteem and will be sorry to know of the death of one of Blair’s earliest business men.

CHARLES COOK TO BE BURIED HERE

FORMER BLAIR MERCHANT, 80, DIED IN BEAVER DAM, WISCONSIN

Charles Cook, aged 80, former Blair merchant, died Monday at the home of his son, Dean C. Cook, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, it was learned here the following day. Mr. Cook, a pioneer Nebraskan, had not lived in Blair since during the nineties.

Mr. Cook operated a general merchandise store in Blair on the corner now occupied by the Sas Bros. store. When his building was destroyed by fire he quit the merchandising business. Later the family lived at Wausa and Spencer, Nebraska. Mr. Cook became a banker.

He is survived by three sons, Renard E. of Wausa, Lucian L. of Spencer, and Dean C. of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin; two daughters, Mrs. Charles C. Morgan, Omaha, and Emma V. Cook of Battle Creek, Nebraska; and by two brothers, Wesley J. Cook, Omaha, and Edwin Cook of Beaver Dam.

The body is to be cremated and interment will take place in the Blair Cemetery soon, according to word received by friends here.
